Food Review : My first time to try Peruvian Cuisine @ ChiCha, Central, Hong Kong
Hmm, have you ever tried Peruvian Cuisine?
I guess a lot of people in Hong Kong did not try this cuisine before (including me!).
Recently, I have an opportunity to try Peruvian Cuisine, and it is absolutely amazing and tasty. (For sure, I will research more about Peruvian Cuisine Restaurant in Hong Kong!)
The restaurant name is called ChiCha, which is located in G/F, 26 Peel Street, Central, Hong Kong.
The venue looks nice and decent, with comfortable sofa setting, and it is able to have a long chat with your friends here.
To start with, we will eat the starter. We have ordered Ceviche, which means Fish marinated in “Leche de Tigre”. The dish includes Corvina, Tuna, Mixto (Trio of ceviche – HK$295), and they are not totally raw, but slightly cooked food, gives a special taste!
Followed by starters, we have ordered some main courses.
The first dish is Causa, which means whipped potatoes topped with seafood. (ooops! There are purple potatoes too, must try this out!)
For this Causa, there are three different kinds of flavor, including Salmon(Purple Potato, Avocado and Passionfruit Aioli), Squid(Avocado, Aji Panca, Aioli and Quail Egg) and Black Cod(Avocado, Wasabi Aioli and Crispy Cilantro)(Any Three- HK$195).
The whipped potatoes gave a sweet taste, but not too sweet, it is tasty!
The next dish is Anticuchos, which means Grilled Skewers, and there are different kinds of skewers.
The most classic one is the Corazon (HK$60), which is beef hearts, they have cut into thin pieces, and the texture is juicy!
Other skewers include Pollo (Chicken) (HK$55), Oh my God (Black Cod) (HK$95), Salmon (HK$75), Tenderloin (Beer Marinated Beef) (HK$75).
After that, we have ordered Chichanones, which means crispy fried fish or meat, and we ordered Pan Con Chicharron (HK$60/ piece). It includes Crispy Pork (Or Chicken/ Fish), with sweet potato, Salsa Criolla and Creamy Aji Amarillo, it taste so yummy!
Then, we have ordered Lomo Saltado (HK$315), which is influenced by Chinese Cuisine and it has rice in this dish. The ingredients include Tenderloin, Scallions, Tomato, Aji Amarillo, Soy, Papas and Choclo Arroz and they are well blended with the rice.
It is not too wet and not too dry, and it is so delicious! It offers me another impression on rice cooking and it became a fushion dish.
If you love to try fushion food, Lechon Al Horno (HK$315) will be your choice. It is suckling pig, pork belly, Salsa Criolla, Papas Rellenas with Rocoto Maple Suace.
Another special dish is called Corvina La Casmena, it is grilled seabass, with hot orange leche de tigre. Seabass with grilled cooking method has locked the original taste of seabass, making it to be more delicious!
Finally, it comes to Postres (HK$75), which means desserts! We have ordered Picarones and they are fried sweet potato donuts with orange spiced syrup, and it is one of my favorite dishes.
The donuts are in warm temperature, with a soft texture, gave an impressive taste to the tongue! Most important, it is not too sweet and you will definitely want one more when you have finished your dessert! (Though I am quite full, but I think this dessert is really tasty.)
Last but not least, Chicha Morada is a special drink in Peru, and it is a non-alcoholic refreshing drink made from the ears of purple maize and mixed spices! (Though it looks purple, it tastes sweet and refreshing :))
If you would like to try some alcoholic and classic drinks, Pisco Sour (HK$75/ left) and Chilcano Morado (HK$95/ right) are also some good choices for you to select!
Conclusion:
It is my first time to try Peruvian Cuisine, and I have never imagined it could be so tasty! Also, it is not as spicy as I thought, and there are lots of dishes using sweet potatoes, and they are so delicious too! Peruvian Cuisine is getting popular, and you definitely need to grab a chance for yourself to try out the Peruvian Cuisine.
