Slow start: Torres has scored just once for Chelsea since his £50m move

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas will not tailor his team to suit Fernando Torres, but expects the most expensive player in British football to prosper next season.
Torres has struggled since his £50million transfer from Liverpool, yet Villas-Boas said: 'We faced this question last year at Porto with a striker of the quality of Falcao. He was a striker who didn't find the back of the net in pre-season and was frustrated. We didn't tune the team to provide to him. We tuned the team as a whole. Once we did that, he scored 30 goals in a season, 60 in two seasons. 'It's about fine-tuning the team, not the player.'
Villas-Boas promised his team will strive to entertain, saying: 'We are proud defenders of the beauty of the game. It's not just a question of winning but winning with a certain flair.'

He said he had no problem working in tandem with a director of football - possibly Michael Emenalo, who was conspicuous by his absence yesterday - but insisted he did not expect players to be signed without his consent. Villas-Boas also promised not to rush into decisions on which players might leave.
'We are able to go for the best in the market when we want,' he said. 'But let's judge on what we have first. We have plenty of time to August 31.'
Most of his squad will be back by next Thursday and their first game will be behind closed doors against Wycombe.
