Chelsea midfielder Yossi Benayoun confirms he is in negotiations with ‘several teams’ over possible move
The Israel international, touted as possible makeweight in Blues move for Luka Modric, reveals on Twitter he is in talks with number of clubs to leave west London
Chelsea midfielder Yossi Benayoun has revealed via his Twitter account he is in negotiations with “several teams” to leave the club.
The identity of Benayoun’s suitors is not yet known definitively, although reports in Israel suggest former club Liverpool and French champions Lille are leading the chase.
The Israel international has failed to make an impact at Stamford Bridge since arriving from Merseyside last summer thanks largely to a serious Achilles injury sustained early on in the campaign.
Benayoun tweeted: “אני במשא ומתן עם כמה קבוצות...חדשות בקרוב [Hebrew] negotiating with several team[s]...news soon...”
It was widely reported the 31-year-old might form part of a possible player-plus-cash offer from Chelsea for Tottenham playmaker Luka Modric, in spite of the north Londoners’ insistence that the Croatian is not for sale.
Speculation surrounding his future intensified further when it emerged he had surrendered his favoured No.10 shirt in the Blues squad to new signing Juan Mata.
