Patrick van Aanholt's loan spell at Wigan Athletic, originally a season-long arrangement, has been terminated by mutual consent between all three parties.

The 21-year-old left back played three Barclays Premier League matches and one Carling Cup tie for the Latics but has not featured in their first team since 1 October.

The Dutch Under 21 international has so far made three starts for Chelsea with five substitute appearances.
