(Wine Tasting) Camel Valley Brut 2013 [UK] [Sparking]

Vineyards are situated on the sunny slopes above the River Camel - halfway between the Atlantic and Channel coasts. The area's mild climate, concentration of clear sunlight, and pure air give a distinctive fresh style. Blending grape varieties of Seyval, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, only the free run juice is used for the sparkling and made by Traditional method (Méthode Traditionnelle) with spent around 12 months on the lees.

There is light gold color appearance with a core aroma of raisin stone fruits like apple & pear is supported by exotic coconut oil and vanilla, even more some honey touches. Yeasty, roasted nuts notes, creamy texture on the palate but it’s not heavy, mingles with succinct acidity ; Pleasant bubbles and racy leading to a satisfying finish with slightly bitterness.

This is 1st time ever I’ve tasted English Fizz and it was a lovely experience. 3 years aging did enhanced its depth, soften mouth-feeling also attractive aromas developed however it sacrificed for the freshness of fruit. Besides, it is Champagne-like, well-arranged structure but more fruit driven and less complexity. Overall the quality is impressive and definitely a great challenger to traditional sparkling wine producers, but Champagne-level price ( £30 ) will take it more time for getting more popular among public as there are so much quality sparkling wine produced around the world.

Tasted on 3rd March,2017 in London. Photo & noted by Derekc.
